This year's Bloomberg NEF is themed “Rising in an Extreme Era”.
Delegates focused on discussing global growth prospects, assessing adjustments in international trade-investment flows amid geopolitical competition, financial-monetary instability, and increasing public debt.
Speeches by leading leaders and economists emphasized the message that small economies should continue open-door policies, enhance partnership diversification through new free trade agreements, and maximize opportunities from the scientific and technological revolution, especially artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, and new energy.
Within the Forum, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang attended and spoke at the high-level closed-door Dialogue on Trade.
The Dialogue featured the participation of Bloomberg Group Founder Michael Bloomberg, Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, as well as ministers and deputy ministers responsible for economics and trade from Costa Rica, Switzerland, New Zealand, Norway, and senior leaders from major regional corporations.
In his speech at the Dialogue, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang emphasized that in a rapidly changing and complex world, Vietnam prioritizes enhancing economic resilience, establishing a new growth model based on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation; affirming Vietnam's commitment to open-door policies and support for a free, fair, rules-based trading system, while continuing to diversify and multilateralize partnerships and markets.
During the Forum, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang met with Costa Rican Minister of Foreign Trade Manuel Tovar Rivera, Bloomberg Founder Michael Bloomberg, and Bloomberg Media CEO Sunita Rajan to promote bilateral cooperation and address mutual concerns.
On the occasion of attending the NEF, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang met with several senior Singaporean leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, greeted Minister of State for Defense and People's Action Party (PAP) member Desmond Choo, greeted Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Industry Gan Siow Huang, and met with Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Albert Chua.
In the meetings, the Singaporean side expressed a strong emphasis on the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, affirming close coordination with Vietnam to effectively implement the newly signed 5-year Action Program 2025-2030 during the Annual Meeting between the two Prime Ministers at the 47th ASEAN Summit (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).
Both sides agreed to continue prioritizing economic, trade, and investment cooperation, particularly expanding Singapore's development space in Vietnam through upgrading the second-generation Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) network to be smarter and greener; accelerating the implementation of cooperation projects in new growth areas such as wind power, nuclear power, carbon credits, science and technology, digital transformation, contributing to realizing the net-zero emission target of both governments.
Singapore committed to continue supporting Vietnam in developing high-quality human resources; expanding the implementation of the Singapore Cooperation Program to other provinces in Vietnam, initially in Hai Phong.
Regarding party-to-party cooperation, both sides discussed measures to soon establish a strategic exchange mechanism between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the People's Action Party (PAP) of Singapore, promoting exchanges of experience and theory, personnel work, public mobilization, ideological education, and anti-corruption.
The Singaporean side stated they would support Vietnam in training and enhancing capacity to effectively operate the two-tier local government system.
In terms of multilateral cooperation, both sides agreed to continue consultations and close coordination in implementing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, strengthening solidarity, centrality, and common stance of ASEAN on strategic issues in the region, including the South China Sea; focusing on sustainable development of sub-regions in the area, including the Mekong sub-region, through bilateral or trilateral cooperation to connect maritime, rail, highway, and aviation infrastructure; mutually supporting each other when Vietnam hosts APEC and Singapore chairs ASEAN in 2027.
